Default Mass Air Problem

Since i bought my car it had a really bad idling problem and i found out that it was my map sensor and the person who looked at my car sayied that my intake was converted from speed density to mass air and he said the i would probably need to replace my ecu, now he also said that, the switch on the actual mass air that plugs into your ecu u can leave out. So i was wondering should i just replace my map sensor or both. Because the way my car is running right now is too rich because of that sensor he said it burns alot of gas. please help me this sh*t is driving me crazy.
