Default Rings?

What size are the rings on a 5.0 shortblock out of a 89 Mustang? It has the Forged pistons.

Also what would be a good half decently priced set to get?

My combo is P heads, cam, Weiand stealth intake, Holley 650. Its might eventually have a 100-150 shot on it. Nothing too outrageous. Thanks for the help.[/align]

Also whats the difference in these 2 sets of rings? They both say they fit a 302. Ive heard of a few people on here running the perfect circle rings. Are thet any good and which set would I need?

Also should I get moly or cast? Which is better and why? Sorry for all the questions.

the difference between the two is probably in the ring thickness.

perfect circle rings are made by dana (a good company) and are ok for a cheap build, i used them in my 289 cause they were the right price when i bought my pistons and i was broke. honestly, you should pick up a set of sealed power (federal mogul) rings. they arent that much money are generally considered to be better.

cast rings seat (break-in) easier/faster but moly rings last much longer and is the reason the later 302's (5.0's) hardly ever have significant cylinder wear - they are easier on the block.

not off the top of my head, i WANNA say the forged 5.0 pistons had a different ring thickness than the normal 302 pistons but i may be totally wrong.

could be

but again you wanna double check ring thickness

perfect circle rings are made by clevite aka MAHLE and are a damn good ring with a napier second ring and a moly top. One of the best rings for a 400-600 hp street car money can buy.

The casting numbers on the piston are E7ZE-6110-CA with the Ford symbol if that helps out any. I need to know what size the rings are so I can get a set ordered.

last i knew MAHLE and clevite had NOTHING to do with each other and DANA owned perfect circle.

btw, mahle has been making OEM pistons for various companies for years including ford.
