Hey,
I was wondering why everyone doenst like bosch, Ive had 2 sets of platinums in my mustang and Im about to put the 3rd set in and I had a set in my firebird and they never gave me any trouble. I dunno maybe Im just lucky.

If you look at the platinums they are designed for 75-100K miles. Unless you have traveled 300K miles so far you should still be on your first set.

I've had Bosch plugs in my car for the longest time, since I bought it and no problems yet. But I do think I will go to autolite or Motorcraft the next time I need to change it. I might just take the Motorcraft plugs off the car I bought, they are brand spankin new, I've looked at them, it looks like he just installed them, lol.

i work at an oil and lube shop and ive seen those explorers with the 5.0 in them with 300k+ with owners that change the oil once every 50000 miles and those thing are still runnin strong!!!!!

Well thanks for all the input so far i will probley change the plugs, and probley get new wire and also check the compression. Also what do u guys conciter normal driveing? I usually shift between 2,500-3,000rpm's when driving normal. Also on the topic of not changing oil, I know a guy who ran his 5.0 truck with 1/4 a quart of oil for about 20 miles(because his filter sprung a leak and it all leaked out) and that truck still goes great.

i know a guy with aq 5.0 88 stang, around 340,000 miles and just starting to burn a bit of oil.
when my oil pan was off couple weeks ago checked the bearings, my engine looks brand new and its going on 130,000 miles.

haha. i like that

seriously though, my car has 151k miles on it. i maintain it regularly(within 1k-1.5k miles of an oil change), and honestly, i run the piss out of it quite a bit. but the key is maintenance. as long as you take care of it, it could last forever. but, like other ppl said, you dont know how the other owners took care of it, so, could be in tip-top shape, or, could be gettin ready to blow up in 6days. you never know. compression test it, change the plugs(i recommend the autolite's also), check the coil and whatnot, and go from there. good luck.
