Ya theyre not worth the time to get them off and money to get work done on. If you want some cheap hp and want to take the heads off. Find some junkyard gt40p's and get a bit of work done to them. You will need different headers but good bang for the buck.
They come from explorers?

To use them what all else is needed? Do you have to take the intake from the truck as well? Will most aftermarket headers work?

You have to get special headers. Headers built for the stangs heads won't fit.

I'm pretty sure any intake manifold will work.

There's special headers designed for 5.0's with gt40p's on them, Im sure someone will have a link for them on here. Or give the search a try. If I were you, I would check out the junk yards for explorers with v8's (mid-late 90's models I believe), see what they want for the heads, and if they aren't a ripoff try and get the intake too. Im not too sure how much better the intake is tho or if anythign extra is needed for the intake.

Is the throttle body opening on the same side for those explorer intakes?

I recall last time I was at the u pull it there were a couple lurking in the bushes. Ill have to go take a check and see if they are still there.
