Default Engine balancing question

My 79' is supposed to have a 28 oz flywheel but i put on a newer 50 oz since they are more readily available. Because I did this can I just put a newer style harmonic balancer on the engine so I don't shell out the bearings on the bottom end? I intend on beating on this motor till the new one is ready but I would like to drive my car for more than one day.

Umm wow! you really need to get a 28oz because it is balanced because of the internals not from the dampner

Just out of curiosity, how long does anyone think the engine would last with 22 oz too much whipping around?

sorry to have to break the news to you that way but unless you wanna pull the motor in short order that's what you need to do..personally pulling the tranny and swapping flywheels is a lot easier and quicker and cheaperthan pulling the motor and rebuilding it
