Default Lowering Problems! Help!

Having a horrible time with front struts on '91 GT. Droppedwith 1" front lowering springs and spring compressors in rear a couple of years ago.Car sat perfect, at least for my taste. Put on new shocks and struts (Gabriel blue gas charged). Now the front end has shotup, rear is fine. Thinking logically, I slotted the strut bolt holes upward to allow the strut to set 1/2" lower in its mounting cradle. It didn't make any difference at all.How can I get these struts from hell to stopjacking the car up in the front???Thanks Guys [:@][:@]

That's weird, struts shouldn't effect the height of the car. Did you install SN95 struts by chance? Also did you happen to remove the front springs at all during the strut install?

I didn't think they would either. I just took the ones that were suppose to be for the car. Please tell me what SN95 struts are and how I can tell. I have disposed of the boxes as I didn't expectanything like this to be an issue.

No, I didn't remove the springs when I changed the struts. They were changed a couple of years ago.

well are you sure the springs didn't rotate at all while u were messing around in there? If the spring rotated out of it's perch the car would sit higher for sure. I actually just saw this at the dealership i used to work at. SN95 struts are struts for SN95s, or 94-04 Mustangs. They are actually longer than fox struts so figured maybe if they were bottomed out it could be holding the car up some. Something doesn't add up though b/c struts don't effect the height of our cars.

That all makes sense. I assume that's why fox struts are sometimes used on later models that have been lowered. I think I'll dig out the receipt and call to make sure they gave me the right part #. I'm pretty darn sure the springs didn't move around although I'll take another look as the right is slightly higher than the left. Thank you for your response! If anyone else has had this problem please tell me what you did!!!

As for the bushings, tell me if this sounds right: Top nut, big washer. rubber bushing with metal tube through it with beveled side up as other side conforms to shape on camber/caster plate, camber adj. plate, plastic dirt cover, rubber bushing on strut shaft inside dust cover. Thanks

I havn't done it personally but it sounds about right. My bushings are screwed on that side so my passenger side is dropped about a inch lower than my driver.
