Default Belt Tension

I just finished the install of a new water pump on my 95 5.0 and installed a new belt as well. I am posting to make sure the tension on my belt it correct. Should I be able to slide the belt off the idle pullie with a little force? I am not used to the auto tension and am just not sure if it is right. Any input would help.

No you shouldnt. A quick way to check is to find the longest length of the belt and push and pull on it. You should have less than 1 inch of deflection.

I just put a new belt on since it was off.

Thanks for the input guys. I will try and find the arrow for the range and see if something can be done.

if you can slide the belt off with tension on...make sure the routing is correct first and if it is then your tensioner may be shot!!
