a few questions with the HCI install
alright, i finished the bottom end the other day, and now i'm putting the heads on and rockers on. Does anybody know what torque spec the rocker studs are suppose to be at. i have the tf kit, so it scares me that the heads are alluminun. it says torque the nuts down to 55 ft lbs but it does not say what spec for the studs into the head. also i am checking ptv clearance or atleast trying to, and i'm told to put the heads on the block with no gasket, turn the engine over slowly and listen and feel for the pistons to hit the valves. if they clear, then i should be fine with the gasket. i don't have all the tools to correctly check the ptv clearance and it seems a little confusing on the net. can someone explain it to me in a simplebut detailed way and also the what tools. last question, what is the best way to turn over the engine, i'm afraid of damaging the threads inside the crankshaft by placing the bolt in there and tightening it down. thanks in advance.

RE: a few questions with the HCI install
turning the engine is easy... thread the main crank bolt in, put a 15/16 socket on it.. and turn the thing....
your rockers studs should be torqued at 50-55 ft-lbs.. not the nuts

You can clay your pistons to check your PTV as well. Just put a thin layer of play doe on the piston, lay your head down on the block, turn the engine over, remove the head, make sure the valve didn't push all the way through the play doe leaving a bare spot on your piston.

RE: a few questions with the HCI install
u line up dot to dot on the cam and crank gear ,so they are faced toward eachother in a strait vertical line.
and u said u have the tfs kit so i assume u have stud mounted rockers, i have whats in my sig kinda tfs kit with the stage cam i turned my nuts to about 1/2 turn past zero lash and then turned the allen another1/8 turn os so and this has worked very well for me so far although my crane rr's are a little like a sewing machine but thats how it goes. good luck and let us now how it turns out[8D]
