unique problem?
 

Ok my summit h-pipe should be here tomorrow. I'm gonna have some installation problems. Heres my situation- Normally the car should have flanges connecting the mainfolds to the midpipe and then a set of flanges to the catback. Well someone who had owned my car previously removed the midpipe and just welded strait pipes all the way back. now i have 1 set of flanges which connect the mainfolds to the strait pipes and the rest is welded. Should i just take it to the shop and have them fit it properly and install a set of flanges? This has been bothering me since i've had the car.

I ordered some H-pipes from summit before and had tried to changed em out in my appartment building parking lot. Key word here is tried. They were not even going to be close to fitting. So i had to take her down to a local shop and get them to bend and install it for me. I'f you don't have the tools to do it I would just suggest taking it to a shop and having them do it.

Ok, so basically if you use this exhaust pipe, the only problem will be that you won't be able to use mufflers until you can get some that bolt up to the flanges right? Ask a muffler shop if they can do it first. If one says no, check another. If it's setup the way I'm thinking they'll have to cut the old flange off of the muffler & reweld a new one on in it's place. Can you take a picture of the way it's setup now?

cant help, but i know what you mean on the welded part. mine had long tube headers welded to the h-pipe that was welded to mufflers. headers were block huggers. had to take a sawzall and cut the headers just to get to my starter.

i would say just take it to the shop and have them fix it the right and save yourself a lot of headaches
