piston questions

RE: piston questions
see with a stock valve relief in a piston the bottom of the piston is molded to provide some extra meat there. your pistons probably arent, and i dunno exactly how thick they are.
the pistons are still in the motor right? no way to measure from the bottom of the pistons head to the bottom of the skirt, then measure the height of the piston, then the depth of the groove you made (do you see the formula to calculate remaining thickness in my jibberish?)

RE: piston questions
I can't think of a way to make those measurements without removing them... I dunno. it's gonna suck if I put it all back together, start it up, and blow a piston right away. but it's also gonna be expensive to replace the pistons. and even if I knew the measurements...I dunno what would be a reasonable thickness to look for.

RE: piston questions
lol...I know...just when I see that piston blowing...I see dollar signs adding up. :-P besides the weeks work it'd probly be for me to get it all sorted out. I see pistons, rings, (if I'm lucky and my rods are ok), gaskets (why are they so expensive anyway?) pins, bearings...yeah... it adds up to a lot of $$$. And as a poor college student, that's kind of a big deal.
