Default well i'm looking into buying a 5.0

they mustang i'm looking at i an 89 lx 5 speed with 135,000 miles on it, all stock, the interior is sun worn but the car idles pretty clean and gets up just like my buddies, he is asking 4000 for it and i was thinking it was a pretty good deal but i'm not sure.......regardless i'm going to get a 5.0 mustang of some sort. i just want to know the rough estimate i should pay for one around this mileage. all the other v8 mustangs in my area are about the same price as this one but they have some modifications, and i was worried about them being dogged.

so i geuss my real questions are:
how much should i pay for one around this mileage?
and what are the tell tell signs of a beater mustang?

3500-4000 would be a good price for that car, but hows the paint and get some pics and we could decide on a better price then

i dont have a digital camera but the paint is desent, its black but i can see swirls in the paint, and there is a nice little scratch in the left door buy the bottum of the door, no real big dents, the only dent i could find was in the hood but i was going to change the hood anyways, the guy is older and seems to know the ins and outs of the car. he was the one who pointed out the flaws so he seems pretty trust worthy, hes about fifty and is the second owner of the car he picked it up at 15,000 miles in 1993.

all right thats all i needed to know i'm on the way to the bank. this afternoon i am going to contact him and see if he's ready for all the title transfering.

my original plan was to buy a 98 v6 for 500 dollars but she backed out of it after the dealership told her how much she could get for a trade, so i am just going to go to the bank and pull a loan out and get it, i already talked to my insurence guy and he said it would only 115 a month. then it would be 67 when i hit the big 21 in september.

the motor and trans only have to last until i pay it off then its time for the fun stuff.

here is an update my buddies uncle is selling his mustang, its an 88 lx with a ported head, lunati cam (i'll have to ask what grind) 3.55 gears, pro 5.0 shifter, stage 2 clutch, i can't remeber the type of flywheel, it has t-tops, it's black, the paint is decent, stock tires, no radio buti have one sitting on my dresser. he hardly ever drives it, and when he ran it at the track, he broke into 13's, and this guy granny shifts. all this for 4k, now thats a deal, simply becuase i know the guy and his mustang.
now i'm just waiting for the bank to call me to see if i'm approved.

I bought mine for 4000, mint paint, rebuilt tranny, no interior sun damage, mainly because the dash pad and arm rest were replaced, with 140,000miles. Runs strong, and was all stock. A virgin if you will. That's car you would want to start with, unscathed.

86HOGT,
what is the original color scheme for your auto? Red top/charcoal grey bottom(below beltline)?

Curious, I have a 86 Capri 5.0 with the Silver/Charcoal Grey. I am wondering how the paint is holding up on your GT. Especially on the bottom end. The Poly/bumpers, etc. Clear coat?

Thanks,
