i dont understand what is so hard about changing inners? i just did one on a suzuki swift today and it wasnt exactly hard. the inner tie rod end just threads onto the rack. unscrew it, and then crack the lock nut loose on the outer tie rod end and unscrew it. when you install the new one just screw it into the outer as far as the old one was (pretty easy to see since the locknut will still be on your old one, about 1/2 turn from being tight since all you had to do was crack it loose). because the pivot point is kinda stiff on the new one it took me a few minutes to get the threads lined up and started onto the rack. this would have been much easier had i popped out the outer tie rod end, but then again sometimes they dont wanna come out so that probably would have been a fight just the same.

really, its friggen EASY though. you could have them both changed in an hour and thats counting a cigarette and a cup of coffee. you can check to see if your other side is bad by jacking up that side of the car and trying to turn your wheel by hand. if it wiggles in and out see where its loose.

i love it when people automatically go spend all kinds of extra money

31.00 shipped from ebay for BOTH sides. these are probably off-brand parts and would probably end up getting sloppy after a few years, but they may last forever - ya never know.

rockauto.com has spicer and moog replacements ranging from 10.00 to 27.00 each, and autozone lists them for 17.00 to 28.00 each.

inners are easy.. alot quicker than replacing rack!!! remove boot clamp then slide back then use and adjustable wrench and spin off inner after outer has been popped out of holder

I said replace the whole rack cause if the inners are shot it most likely has 100k+ and the rack as seen better days. It will save you work in the end. I paid $250 for the late model resto kit. It came with the rack, inner and outer tie rods, urethane bushings with sway bar end links and strut mounts

just do yourself a favor, if you buy the Flaming River kit, don't get the steering shaft. I have heard nothing but horrible things about them. I also bought the kit and ended up sending back the shaft and getting a flaming river shaft, much better design.

how could that possibly be the same price? your saying a whole rack only costs like 35-55 bucks?

wtf is wrong with you people?

and btw your car pulls because you needed an alignment, not because your rack is messed up. if its not leaking fluid its FINE

*sighs*
