being an EFI motor im guessing it IS roller which means you have the wrong cam picked. also, that cam is really small and would be pretty worthless.

the scat rods arent worthless, because your getting out of the stock ford rod bolts. by the time you pay to get your rods reconditioned and have the better of the arp bolts installed your almost at the same price yet still in a 5/16 bolt and a rod that is surely weaker than the scat rod anyways.

do a little ebay shopping, you can probable pick up on this stuff alot cheaper than summit.

What are your goals and intended use of the car?....... daily driver?..... weekend warrior?...... track only? ... is it an early non-roller block? (based on the HFT camshaft you chose). LUK

Show me broken stock rod bolts on this caliber of motor he is building. I havent seen any in the last 15 years. Those rods are a waste for his motor, sorry. We have gone 7000 rpm on a stock rod thousands of times

its not the rods, its the rod bolts and if your using stock rod bolts on a 7k motor then you are retarded. i had arp waveloc 5/16 bolts in my C8 rods (which have a stonger, somewhat ribbed caps than the later ones) and when my motor blew up i sent a rod/piston to arp for analysis and they determined that even with those bolts my rpm ceiling was about 5500 with the weight of the trw forged dome piston and the stock rod. had i used the 100.00 a set arp bolts (the best ones you can buy) my rpm ceiling would have been a bit higher, but still not 7k. (even though i was shifting @ 6800 when i was "playing") it was basically a dice roll every time.

now, you can spend 100 bucks on bolts, and then spend probably 10-15 bucks a rod to have them reconditioned, or you can spend about the same money and have brand new rods that you know arent twisted, arent stressed, and are designed with a little more meat in the areas that count and have thicker 3/8's bolts already in them.

now, my current build is a 289 with hyper flattops that weigh less than the trw forged pistons i had in my 302, plus the 289 has a shorter stroke and im using the 100.00 arp bolts. this is more appropriate for spinning the motor up like i tend to do, and of course the rods have been polished to stress relieve the casting flash and everything is balanced.

hmm, maybe i DO know wtf im talking about eh???

is it worth him spending 4 or 5 hundred bucks on aftermarket rods? no. but its cost effective to just go ahead and spend 2 hundred or so and be done with it. i would have done so myself but 5.155 289 rods are like twice the price of 5.090 rods.

Well i will be using the car as a daily driver but will also be taking it to the track every once in a while and the occassional race on the street. Im just trying to redo all my internals cause the motor's getting pretty old. What cam and rods should i go with?? And is that federal mogul engine rebuild kit pretty decent??? Also should i run 19lbs or 24lbs injectors???
