cooling issue
 

the factory gauge does not work in my car so i wired in a gauge it seemed to work ok but it says my temps are atpegged at280 it hits 180 the thermostat opens it holds their for 1 min the keeps going up to 280 all this happens in a square half mile taking it easy going 40 the car has an electric fan that works and the upper and lower hose of the radiator are hot so is the radiator but not hot enough to burm me when i touch them i can hold my hand to the radiator and not get burnt but its close and i have turned the fans on even before i started driving and the radiator if full of good looking green coolant the issue started when i put together a rolling chassis with parts from another cari had that the torque boxes got destroyed on so it the same motor trans rear end radiator water pump which isnt leaking or making noise hoses etc and when all of this was in the other car it had no issues with cooling the system is presurising and has a 20lbs cap on it and my motor is stock so i am not maxing out the radiator on cooling capcityand their is no loss of power or knocking when the gauge reads 280 peggedwhich i think their should be when i stand on itthe way i see it is the cheapo gauge i bought is no good but it pauses a 180 so i think it is ok or for some unknown reason the coolant really is getting that hot any comments will be more than appreciated

It might make it easier to understand your problem if you used punctuation instead of onelongrunonsentence.[&:]

It's probably something with the gauge, but you could have an air bubble in the system somewhere blocking the coolant. Have you ever heard of PUNCTUATION?

Its just easy to read it that way. I got a lot of crap for that to dont be lazzzzzy:DGet a better gauge....

probably wrong sending unit for the gauge

when i hooked my autometer up to the stocker, it read 150F when the car was cold

the sending unit came with the gauge. Not to say that i trust it still it's a 20$ sun pro.
