Default Hooking up a alternator?

Does anyone know what is needed to run a alternator?

Or if theres a special way to wire it.

I'm thinking it wouldn't be smart just to put dirrect power to it.

Info is appreciated.

Are you starting from scratch? Most ppl just swap what was there.

buy a 1-wire alternator. run a 4ga cable from the + output post, and run the signal wire to a switched +12v source

I really don't feel like spending cash on a brand new alternator..

Can't I just hook this one up.
