Default Short Circuit Problems - Gray/Yellow Wire?

When I turn the key to start the car something shorts out and all power is lost, but no fuses blow because the power will be back after several minutes. All my grounds seem good. All my fusible links are still good. Anyone have any tips on finding the short? Or is there a common cause for this?

Also, I noticed a burnt terminal on the ignition switch that connects to the gray/yellow wire. The diagram below shows this going to the HEGO sensors (oxygen sensors?). I don't know if that had anything to do with it, but I did replace the ignition switch.

if any wires show signs of overheating..you need to replace wire and switch to eliminate the faulty connection/high resistance in the circuit..and double check your terminals and all connections

I am completely puzzled. Here is what I have figured out so far:

After it shorts out, if I disconnect the pos. batt. cable and hook it back up, the power comes back. If I disconnect the small red/blue wire to the solenoid and turn the key, it will not short out. If I connect the battery terminal w/ the starter cable – sometimes it will short, sometimes it will try to crank the engine. This leads me to believe the short has to do with the starter wire. But the starter wire and motor are only two years old, there are no signs of corrosion, wear, loose connections, etc. Also, at one point the car started just by chance and then shorted out and shut off after running for about 10 sec., so that wouldn’t even have to do with the starting system. WTF?? I've also visibly checked every wire under the hood and dashboard that I could see - couldn't findbad wires.

Starter solenoid, save your self some grief and pull the starter out and get it checked.
