Default question about timing

First , I want to start by saying thank you to everybody who helped me out last month
I swapped my engine , now the engine is running and tonight my stang hit the road again

I have a little question about timing .... The engine I put on my car is a 5.0 .....pretty stock with a camshaft (B303)...well , this is what the guy told me ... mass air flow ... H pipe ... basic stuff like that

Should I change the timing from "10 degrees before top dead center" to another timing because I changed the cam? I set the timing to 10 degrees before top dead center and the engine works , but the idle is bad a little bit ...

Is it the standard setting or I should set the engine to another timing because I changed the camshaft?

thanks a lot again!!

Franck

Default RE: question about timing

5.0 engines like 14* timing but usually requires the use of 91 octane fuel.

Thanks for the fast reply!

Ok so there is NO relation between camshaft and timing , am I right?

If I don't use 91 octane with 14 BTDC ... the engine will suck ?

No but you will more than likely have pinging and detonation which is not good at all for your engine.

cam timing and ignition timing are two seperate things.....cam timing controls valve timing events where as ignition timing controls spark timing/ delivery = early or later
