REAR END SIZE?

Any one know what the size of the rear was on 79-85 GTs. Was it the 7.7"? I know 86 was the first year fir the 8.8 inch, but I'm looking for a rolling chassis without rust as early as 79 (for no emissions and classic car insurance). Also any one know how much has to be changed to make a 79 look like an 87-90-is it just the bumper, headlight panel, and hood that has to be changed? Thanks for any input

You can't wait a year for your 86 to be a classic?

The rear ends before the 8.8 were the 7.5".

RE: REAR END SIZE?

It's the rear differential. The 7.5 or 8.8 is the diameter of the ring gear. Bigger gear can take more load.
