Default belt rubbing

i just put on ford racing ac eliminator don't have a smog pump i got a 73 inch belt stock pulleys i think, wasn't told they were under drive when i got the car. I'm running the belt like the pic on the bottom left of this link http://www.cjponyparts.com/NewTech50Belts.aspx my trouble is the belt tensioner is pushing the belt down on it's self, it's tight but rubbing will this work are is something wrong if so any ideas

you can try a slightly shorter belt ..belt stretch often makes the two touch and I got tired of it so I bought a smog eliminator pulley to solve the whole issue

don't guess i could put a bigger pulley on the alt and space it out some more that way, if i found one to fit.

im in the same boat.. kinda confused though cause it never rubbed on my other 5.0

i needed a prybar to get the belt on though.. and on this car i could do it by hand.. barely.

maybe tensioner has too much slack..

you can.. but its just gunna snap.

when my first belt snapped, i bought 2 and a 18mm wrench so i could change it myself instead of havin to call my buddy again lol

well got a smaller belt on with about 1&1/2 inch clearance someone told me to use a belt for a 92 lumina 3.1 710k6 prestone so it wouldn't strech as much as some of the others do. couldn't fine prestone here so went with napa # 060710 they said it was better that the gatorback belt and wouldn't strech much either. It was tough getting it on but seems to be working fine the guy that told me about this belt isn't having any trouble so hope this works out. mjr46 did you try a belt this small it's 71 inch and did you get that much clearance
