on the phone the guy at the junk yard told me he had a set from a 96 ford explorer with low miles (of course they always say that whether its true or not) he wants $175 a head, that sounds a little high to me, is this a normal price?

those are GT40 heads not GTP heads which are still good. tell him 300 for the set and its a good deal.
