Default Tapping Pan for S/C oil return

Hey Guys, can somebody enlighten me regarding the oil feed return for a Vortech kit? So check this out....the return line is a 1/2" and the instructions say to tap pan using a 3/8" tap etc. well in the kit I have one fitting that looks to be the return fitting for the pan....its more like a 5/8" hole its almost exactly the same as theoil return coming for the headunit but its not, which would make sense so oil can drain freeley instead of bottlenecking it to a 3/8 hole?....Am I missing something? Thanks All

With pipe fittings, the 3/8 measurement is the hole inside the fitting, the outside with the threadswould be closer to 1/2 if that is what you are wondering.

Well a 3/8 pipe tap is more like a 1/2...you will need to use a pipe tap.

When using a pipe tape on actual pipe, the thread size refers to the size of the I D of the pipe, so the threads are going to naturally be larger since they are on the O D.
