Default Fuel Pump Question

My car been having a problem with the fuel pump. The other day I was real low on gas and went to work. When I went to leave the pump wouldn't come on. I went and got some gas for it and nothing. I hit the bottom of the tank a few times and it came on. It worked fiine for a week drove it everyday then it did itagain today. Does it sound like my pump is bad, did I starve it? I did run out of gas a few years back too.

Sounds like you may have overheated the pump by running it so low on gas. I'm sure that you know that the fuel is what keeps the pump cool.

Sounds like a bad connection to me rather than a bad pump. Could also be a bad pump though. I always drive my car with the gas light on. Ran out a few times too & the pump still works fine.

drop the tank, clean and check the connections, if they look bad clean them and put it back together and try it, if not just throw in the 110.
