Yes you need a puller. And i had one let go on my 87 mark7 drove to my house and replaced it nothing happened to the engine. But wow you want to talk about vibration the hole car was shaking..

I said I was running PERFECT yesterday at timing set a 24*'s[&:]...well now I am getting vibration at 3500rpms in 2nd gear w/ loss of power high up in the powerband. Does anyone know if I need anthing else besides the harmonic balancer to do this job. Also, if anyone has a quick run down of tools needed or things to look out for. Thanks everyone!!

so if the harmonic balancer is wobblinng it would be good not to drive it? because mine wobbles like crazy but its just a wkend car and hasnt ran in two months just sits there

Yesterday when I got home it seemed the engine was shaking around so I popped the hood and the harmonic balancer was wobbling...so the balancer is gone. I planned on parking it till i got it fixed, but damn that was close...I almost was gonna drive it for 2 weeks before I fixed it. Thanks addermk2 you saved my motor
