yes you did get lucky. you don't need a balancer installer, didn't even know they had them, just a puller, rent one from autozone you leave a deposit on it and get all the money back when you return it. word of advice take out the bolt in the center of the crank taht holds the balancer on, then take the washer off the bolt and thread it back in, makes pulling it off much easier.

Thanks for the tip....i just ordered a Ford stock replacement balancer for $85 shipped from 50resto. Could of got it locally, but theweekend isalmost here and I can live w/o the car for couple days.

Yes you need a puller. And i had one let go on my 87 mark7 drove to my house and replaced it nothing happened to the engine. But wow you want to talk about vibration the hole car was shaking..

Ask My77stang what happened when HIS balancer came off

i drove a good 5 miles with a bad balancer. i was on the highway, in the middle of no where when it happend.

i couldnt drive the car faster than 5 mph...

replaced it and motor ran fine.. still does
