Default Manual Lever Position (MLP/TR sensor)

I have this problem with my 94GT (auto), sometimes it does not want to crank at all unless I cycle the tranny (the tranny it's not slipping) then the car will start. I have come up with a conclusion that my MLP is faulty. I have been doing some research andI can buy a new one for about 30-50 dollars, have any of you had this problem? if so, did you do the job yourself?
Any tips and help will be greatly appreciated, again thank you.

Yep...... if you run a DIY KOEO/KOER/Cylinder Balance Self-Test ..... MLP related failure codes would also show..... 634, 654, 667, 668 and/or 675.

Hey Joel, thanks for replying asap. I did run a odb1 (koeo) test and the code that came outwas a 511.....none of the codes that you mentioned above came out. Again, I can cycle the tranny and the car does start.

MLP codes are not based on a single occurrence, the system needs to see the failure repeat itself x times for y period of time. You should also make sure the MLP is properly aligned, not allowing the starter to engage until you cycle the lever, could easily be corrected by loosening the MLP and aligning it (rotating the body)........

Yep.... but it also has the neutral safety and the reverse light switches integrated within the sensor.
