There's a hell of a lot more to making power than just flow. This has been proven time and time again.

A nice analogy is the 390cfm carburetors used on Busch cars. Running basically the smallest 4bbl carb on Earth they make well over 500hp from a 348cid engine at over 6,000rpm. That's a lot more than most street cars, and how many street cars do you see with 390's?

This is true of heads as well, just because one has bigger ports or flows more, doesn't neccessitate it making more power. Chamber design, swirl, port velocity, ability to atomise homogeneously etc all matter just as much, if not more than flow. AFR and TF both make good heads, but like with most everything else, it comes down to how the combination is set up.

If someone bought afr165's over a 170 wedge, they have rocks loose in the head. I build engines every single day with afr heads customers send to me, and you can have them. there not bad but there not gods gift by any means and there FULLY cnc ported and they certainly dont run away from the as casted competition by any means, what does this tell you? carry on

I don't understand why someone would pay more money for a head that doesn't perform as well OTB and doesn't have as much potential for the future.

At what lift ranges are you talking about? The TW head out flows the 165 up to .600".

ORIGINAL: 5spd GT

Yes, it outflows on the intake side, but not the exhaust side.

The TFS cylinder head is a shorter runner, which creates less piping, which helps better flow (minus the intake runner).

The TFS is a good cylinder head, but I prefer full CNC and a lighter valvetrain like the OEM is now going!

Flow is not everything. Per square inch, the AFR 165 flows better in the upper lift ranges, which is where power potential occurs.
