cobra intake install procedure
I could have sworn I had a site bookmarked that showeda complete step-by-step instructions for how to replace a gt intake with a cobra but of course now that I am ready to do it I can't find anything like it. Does anyone else have this? I am complete newb when it comes to motors and this is a little over my head with no instructions........

RE: cobra intake install procedure
dont stress out about it, it's a bolt on, just pull the old intake and put the cobra on. you pull the t/b and egr off the old one, the pull out the 6 bolts that hold the upper intake to the lower. use some fuel line disconnects to pull the fuel lines off, then unbolt them from the lower intake. it shouldnt be too difficult, just remember where things go, take your time and do it right. just reverse what you did to pull it off

RE: cobra intake install procedure
disconnect battery
drain the water
release pressure in fuel lines(schrader valve) by wherre the fuel lines connect to the fuel rail
disconnect fuel lines
remove air inlet and filter
remove tb u can keep the throttle cable hooked up set to the side
pull alternator or again just unbolt and set to the side
remove the six bolts from the upper intake and remove
diconnect rest of vac lines and the heater hose hard line and remove that
distributor? u might have to pull for clearance or not just mark with a crayon and/or take pictures of everything before u remove stuff
remove the 12 or 14 bolts out of the intake and have a big pry bar or something and pry up
clean everything good clean gasket surfaces
then set intake gaskets in place with a little shellac and silicone on corners off intake gaskets
set new intake on and make sure not to disturb the gaskets
then hand tighten all bolts down and then torque to like 12-15 from inside out then like 18 then 20-22lbs and redo this final setting a couple times to make sure its sealed
then in the opposite order replace the upper, vac lines,tb,air tube, filter, alternator, water, fuel lines, and connect battery then blip the key a couple times to load up the fuel in the lines and inj's and then turn it over.
