Default Full exhaust with headers or Gears?

Hello all,

Just have a quick question.

Full exhaust with headers or Gears 3.73s?

What gains would I get from full catback (Flowmaster) and headers (BBK Shorties). My 91 5 speed gthas very minor mods?

Thanks,

Fairlee

full exhaust, maybe 2-10hp gains, little loss in TQ

gears is the way to go, may take off .5 to 1.00 second off your quarter mile times depending on a few other things(driver mod, tires, suspension, launch, ect ect ect)

a better gain would be gears over exhaust. But dont skip on doing an exhaust you still should do one. Just as for a stock car the best #1 upgrade would be gears then exhaust and then intake to complement the exhaust.

well most will go for gear, i guess im different, i like the sound of exhaust, and like to keep my mileage with the gas like it is, i kept my stock gears in both my mustangs. also exhaust would help gas mileage a little. but if it's not a dd, go for gear

Looks lke gears would be the best choice but the sound of the exhaust would be nice too. I like to do 1 thing a year to my car since I just got it last year.

I guess next year I will do exhaust.

Question. Will the gears 3.73. make my gas mileage worse?

Thanks,

Fairlee

you may lose some if you do a lot of highway driving, around town youll probably gain a little. i also say gears, nothing other than a supercharger or nitrous will give you the seat of the pants difference like gears will, youll be smiling from ear to ear withem, ps start saving for tires too, with my 87 i could bark the rear tires flatshifting into 3rd w 3:73s.

Most def they will, i do alot of highway driving, and I HATE my gear it's too much rpm on the highway it limits where i basicly can go, because i live in texas places to a little trip to go to. i hate 3 g's at 85. when i take out my diff im puttin in some 3.27's

its not a huge different in gas mileage..back when i had the 2.73s i went on like a 300 mile trip all interstate and got about 24...now with the 3.73s i checked it one day on my way to school and still got 21...and that was partial interstate, partial city, and some parking lot fun while at the campus lol...i dont think it really changed it that much if i were to check it with the same conditions..my revs are about 500 more at any given speed than they were before so im happy...
