Default my 89 gt running crappy...

well i have a 1989 mustang gt 5.0 and it has some problems that i cant figure out.... it has been sitting for about 3 years and ran fine for a little while. now it idles really rough when you put a load on it. it stalls when i stop.... when its in park or nutral it runs fine but still a little rough. reverse and drive the car dies.also when the aircondition is on, it is a lot worse.it also has a huge loss of power. when i go to get on it, it doesnt take off at all.. it gets up to speed but very slow so its scary getting on the freeway[sm=smiley5.gif]when in park, it wont rev up past 3000rpms when i floor it, but if i ease it up there it can red line. i took it to the local shop and the mechanic said that 'its probably the cats' and so$300 later and it still runs like crap=/please help!!! it has new cap, rotor, plugs wires and oil is changed.

Default RE: my 89 gt running crappy...

I had a simular problem with my 95 GT. I went through the whole thing with tune up, fuel filter(you might want to check that out). Also i finally took it to a real machanic that had a scope or some type of machine that indicated my injectors were not at full capacity. 2 were @ 100% 4 were @ 50% and 2 were @ 30%. Having been sitting for 3 years you might want to check out you're injectors. If they are you're injectors the dealer will rape you on the cost, I bought mine through summit racing for $200.00. Hope this helps.

I say that(previous message)because mine felt like it was being robbed of power and was tough to get it to 4000rpm and felt like i was pulling a boat. After the injectors were replaced it freed up power and throttle response.

That's a good idea also because i replaced a cracked vaccum line also. It was a process of elimination.
