heater core leak

RE: heater core leak
There are two ways to take the dash out, the dash is in two pieces, a metal bracket & then the dash itself.
Almost EVERY one I know takes the metal bracket out & leaves it attached to the dash which makes it somewhat difficult & very timing consuming.
The other way is to unbolt the dash from the metal bracket & leave the full metal bracket still bolted in the car, this way you don't fight with any wires, nor do you have to mess with any big bolts that are hard to get out.
To give you an idea, it takes me about an hour & a half to take it out with the metal bracket, mostly due to the wiring & steering column. Whereas to take the dash out & leave the bracket it I can usually get the dash & console out in under 20 minutes. After that, it's very easy & doesn't take too long to change the heater core & the metal bracket is no where close to being in the way. So you can do it either way, one way should be an under 2 hour job, the other will probably be an all day job.
