Default gradual heat-up

Since I charged the ac a couple of weeks ago my temp has been going up (slowly) to around 250 before I shut it off. It does it in about 20 miles or so. I have an 88 gt aod. What would be the cause of this? I have looked under and above the car for leaks and could not find any... Could it be as simple as the t-stat just going bad or could it be something worse? The rad and fan are stock. Like I said, it ran a good temp before the ac charge. Related or just a coinsidence?

by now you could have blown a head gasket...what on earth are you thinling letting it get to 250....???..if it hasn't popped a gasket then I'd look at maybe a restricted radiator , bad water pump and maybe a t-stat but if the t-stat were stuck closed you wouldn't make it 20 miles..

First off, I said AROUND 250. It is a stock temp gauge on an 88. Normal running temp is on the middle line. It makes it to the line above. So far so good on the head gasket. I think I could tell if it blew that. The water pump is not leaking out the weep hole as one does when they are going bad. Any other ideas???? And, dont reprimand me when you dont know the factors regarding this issue. I just asked a question. Thanks
