RE: exhaust opinions
I can tell you this: Exhaust NEVER sounds like it does on video. The best thing to do is find a car that you like the sound of and talk to the guy. If you cant do that then asking around like you are is the second best thing. Everyone has a opinion and here is mine..
I have tried Flowmasters, Mac's, Flowtec terminators, Dynomax Super Turbos, Warlocks, Magnaflow and did not like them. Out of that group I would say that Magnaflow sounded the best but I have some issues with packed mufflers.
I have tried "Powersticks" from classic chambered exhaust and liked them. It is really a old school muscle car sound and no packing. I also tried and currently have the Pypes Violator mufflers. They are a packed muffler but the design is totally different. It offers a muscle car sounds that is loud but not pop pop pop loud. The violators do not drone and get a little louder after about 500 miles. The sound clips on youtube and the pypes site are a "fair" example of what they sound like but do sound much louder on the videos than in person.
I like shortie headers and X pipe but that is just my opinion. I think the longtube headers are not worth the effort for the little gain up top. I have always had heat soak related problems each time I installed longtubes and will not use them again on a street car.
My suggestion would be quality shortie headers-X-pipe and Violator mufflers. Run 2.5" pipes all the way out the back and do not dump them. I think most would be pleased with the result and sound.
Good luck and let us know what works for you.
