Okea here it is i just bought a 89 gt ..orignaly the car was broken into and the cluster got ripped out now i put the cluster back in and now when i turn the key in the on postion the dash lights come on and dosent due the dash light sykle .. then when i try to just turn the parking lights on with out the key on every other light works but the cluster dosent and when i put the high beams on the dash lights dim out like if there a short..also dose the same with singal lights ..


i know for sure the a short sum were but i dont know were any idea's were i should test or look ???

The ignition switch and or cluster mechanicalsmay be damaged.

Several wires have fusible links to the switch as well, depending on what the thief did, one or more may be partialy or fully blown, check for 12v+.

well as for custer i changed it to another did the same **** ...but igintion switch works fine i geuss ....
any idea were these are found the fusable links cause ive looked every were i cant see them

also when i turn the key off and turn the lights on with switch you can hear the fuel pump kick on and then i took the cluster out and tried it and it stopped ..its doing this when i plug in the right harness of cluster .when i leave it unhooked it dosent due it ..

Acheap volt ohm meter, can be had for about $3-$20 online, or harbor freight tools.

A typical will show 10volts down to 7 or beelow when found, or just 0

by the way the cluster wouldnt be the problem if its for a 90-91 fox and mines a 89 ?????

I'm not sure if the older cluster will work or not, but I'd get a good wiring diagram and start checking the continuity from the cluster wires to the lights and switches to make sure you have continuity as well as check to a ground to check for shorts. That may help also find fusible links that are blown.

well i know i just checked the back of the cluster and harness and there different ... but i cant find how to make it work there someone on here that did it but hes on vac and he had the same problem and it worked out ..'

any ideas were to find how to do this ???
