Default Backfire? Tuneup?

Recently, my car has been making a backfire like sound coming from the front right of the engine. It only does this under hard acceleration and when the car is still reaching operating temperature. Once it has warmed up it goes away. I can only describe it as a poping sound.I have 90K on the odometer. Is it time for a tune up or is it maybe a fuel pump or other issue?

When is the last time you did a tune up????[>:] Check your timing and make sure that hasn't worked its way out of whack.

make sure you don't have an exhaust leak and all the smog if you still have it is not hanging loose...meaning some hoses that have come loose or off

Timing was reset less than 5 k ago. I dont know when the last tuneup was.. before i bought it... Also, Im running premium right now and it was set at 10 degrees. Could this have some reverse affect?

Set it to 12 and see what happens. If it seems to help take it to 14. 12-14 is where most 5.0's run there timing at. But yea catch up on that tune up. If you don't have a clue then do one. If I buy a car, private owner or dealer, I do a tune up first thing. You never know when it was last done

Clean the inside of the MAF with electrical contact cleaner spray and check for codes
