RE: Surging idle & bumpy on decel
those are for the emissions controls and if the source vaccum is detached and plugged you'll be fine but all you need to look for vaccum leaks is a can of carb cleaner and to pull codes GOOGLE..... DIY koer test

RE: Surging idle & bumpy on decel
as mjr said, its most likely a vac leak....its a very common problem...i had it myself ...i even posted a vid that looked just like yours ..lol. after i replaced the IAC and the TPS and cap/rotor/plugs, fuel filter....it still did it...found it to be the MAP sensor vac line from the back of the upper plenum ..

RE: Surging idle & bumpy on decel
Well I stopped at the store to pick up the MAP sensor. Plugged the new one in and to my suprise it idled fine. I let it idle for about 5-10 min, Which i was guessing enough time for the thermostat to turn on and it seemed fine.
Rev'd it up a time or two and everything was normal.
Then I dropped it into reverse and STALL.
I heard no grinding, NOTHING, it just cut off.
The car has had a history of dropping the RPMs extremely low then come back up real quick when put into reverse and it's stalled out on me into reverse a time or two in the past 5 months or so.
I've suspected a broken transmission mount because of the thumping on deceleration but i've never got it checked out.
Could an extremely broken transmission mount (or two) cause the motor to cut off?
It seems as if the transmission has alot of play when i take it in and out of gears. (we're talking AOD)
HELP!
