I have an 89 Mustang LX 5.0 140mph cert. guage and my speedmometer and odometer stopped working...maybe the speedometer cable broke or it the mechinism that goes into the transmission with the gear im not sure...do the odometer and speedometer to read on the dash use the same cable? also wut do u think the problem is?

YES, most likely the speedometer cable broke...both the speedometer and odometer use the same cable since it is the same gauge...everything else in the instrument cluster is electronic...check in the tech articles there is a gauge cluster removal one i wrote up...cables like 15 bucks...and about 30 minutes to 1 hour to fix depending on skill level

thank u very much wildsurfer..the only thing that sucks tho is wen i pulled the cable out today i was tryin to put it back and broke the freakin clip that holds it into the housing any clue where i can find the clip online or somethn

My car overheated a burned the cable from the headers but i also heard that sometimes by punching the car it twistes up the cable. anyways it a bitch to change you well have to rip the car apart all the way to the cluster then run the cable throw the firewall to the tran. onces you get your car apart 30mins to 1hour

yea i work in mibile electroncis so running the wires/cable through the firewall shouldnt be that hard and my cluster is unbolted i just need to take it out now to access the cable
