Default Got a couple quick questions

I am going at the stang tomorrow to do a couple odd things that need to be done because I have 3 days off. My car seems to be running a bit off it pops on d-cel and between shifts. I am going to check the timing and want to set it to base which is 10 but what set of numbers on the balancer is it? Also last night I was driving around and it started to tick under load, does that sound like an exhaust leak??It seems to be inline with the exhaust pulses and does not occur when free revving. I did have an exhaust leak a week ago that went away when I tightened a exhaust connection. My exhaust does not seem to be loose this time. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks.

There should be only one set of timing numbers on the balancer, or at least you'll only see one with the timing light. The tick under load could be detonation, especially if you think the timing is off. Is the tick rythimic or random??

Yes, you are correct. You would want 10 BTDC. Thanks for the correction.

I was out again tonight and found that it sometimes ticks when reving in neutral. It does it all the time when driving unless I am staying at a constant speed. When I accelerate it ticks worse. It also stopped compleatly at one point and I seemed to have more power I chirped the tires in second while moving is does not usualy do that.

The only reason I think it may be more serious then that is it seems to be down on power like maybe a dead cyl, Would that mak my shifter vibrate?

As, you suspected it was an exhaust leak this time it was at the header bolt on the head not to the midpipe. Two bolts were almost falling out they were backed off a 1/4". I still have the problem with the popping on d-cel does anyone know what could cause that??
