no it doesnt have to be smog leagal, i was looking at the air gap intake but its a high rise and the filter element i have on now is pretty close to the hood i would have to geta small cowl for clearance.

as for the gears.. i want to swap in a whole new rear end first, i want to put in an 8.8
just get a different air cleaner ..rpm air gapis great.. I run one on my 85 with dual snorkal air cleaner amd 1/2 inch nitrous plate and no hood clearance issues

i took off the dual snorkel air cleaner and put on an edelbrock but i wouldnt mind trying to get one of the long oval ford racing filter covers they arent as tall as the stock one and look sweet

would it match up well with a pair of ported GT40 heads?

and whats the difference between the gt40 and gt40p heads i know the p came off of the explorer but are they as good and will they work with the headers that fit the stock heads?

the main diff of gt-40 vs the p heads are spark plug placement gt-40 p's have a straight plug and the regulat gt-40's have an angled one p's also have a smaller combustion chamber I believe??
