A full bolton 5.0 with a TrickFlow H/C/I will rarely see 300rwhp. The average I've seen is between 270-285. However, by switching to AFR heads the horsepower will most of the time break 300rwhp. They are a really good head but cost $300 more dollars. I thought about the Edelbrock package before I got my Tricklow stuff. But in an article I had they only made 260rwhp and 295rwtq through a performane automatic. For me it came down to people reccomending the TrickFlow heads and I think they are great. Just my .02

I'd stay away from patriot heads if I were you.

and if you are building a 302, canfield 195's would be WAY too big

Whats wrong with the patriots? and doesn't canfield make a smaller head that would be more suitable for a 302?

they might make a smaller one, but i would buy the 195's from jay if you planned to add any more cubes.

Canfield 195's or TFS 185's are not too big for a 302 however, if you're "stuck" with the B-303........they are. Any of the two heads mentioned would work great in a 302, but they need the correct valve events (= camshaft & valve train) to optimize their use in a 302... talking street use here as well.
