Clutch Pivot Shaft Broken - HELP!!

Clutch Pivot Shaft Broken - HELP!!
I got in my car, hit the clutch and snap. I thought I broke my clutch cable, but alas after a lot of tearing and exploring I find that the shaft going from the clutch pedalto the bracket that turns the quadrant broke at the weld. It has an after market adjustable quadrant from steeda on it.
Problem #1 - Getting this damned thing out - anyone ever messed with one? I got the clutch pedal off from the drivers side of the shaft and the quadrant off from the passenger side, but the thing isn't budging!
Problem #2 - No parts stores around me sell a "Pivot Shaft" - where in gods name does one find a new Pivot Shaft. I may be able to get it re-welded if I can somehow get it out.
Hope some stanger out there can help.
Dan
p.s.
Just got an MGW short throw for my B-day and I am dying to put it in, so I need this fixed quickly so my 88 GT can get back to doing what she does best, tearing up the roads!

RE: Clutch Pivot Shaft Broken - HELP!!
best way is drop the column and replace the pedal assembly as a unit...it's a fair amount of work but you don't have to remove the entire dash..but I would remove the seat so you can lay on your back
