In 89 they came with 2.73's or an optional 3.08! Mine had the 3.08, before I went to 3.55's

the speedo gear isnt too tough to put in..im not sure if the one you mentioned would work or not

I have a red 21 toothed gear on my speedo cable and it is very close to correct, I think someone on here told me to get a black 19 or 20 toothed gear to be even closer. Get it at the dealer, very cheep part I paid 3 bucks for mine. I am running 3.55's and was in my last mustang also. Very good performance and cruses great down the highway also, 60-65 mph at 2000rpm.
