Thinking of Going Auto

Thinking of Going Auto
I have a friend who has an aod and wants to sell it for 150.00. My first question is that worth it being it needs to be rebuilt? And how much to make it good street/strip tranny? I have a 86gt 5speed with fully built 306, afr 165, tf stage 2 cam, performer intake and just about everything else bolt on you can think of. Im want the auto to make it more consistant but not slow my times down. My world class t-5 may not last much longer so im thinking of a change to auto being auto's are faster when built right. Let me know what you all think and what all I need for change.

RE: Thinking of Going Auto
I just swapped a T5 for a built C4 3,500 stall and transbrake I dropped my ETs by .30 Here is a list of what I needed for the swap:
Transmission, bellhousing, flexplate, dipstick, mount, cooler, lines, converter, shifter.

I personally would rather have a built auto over a 5 speed.
The only reason I swapped back to my t5 from the c4 was for fuel economy. When I get around to building an aode then i'll put an auto back in. I'm hoping sooner than later. I'm not much for stock autos though. Shift kit at least & preferably a stall [sm=drooldude.gif]

I'm not sure of a good place for aod parts.
I drove my built auto on the street it seemed more streetable than my t5 does. The shifts were a little harder than you might like on a street car though. I drilled my valve body a little too big so it barked the tires on the 1-2 & 2-3 shift. [&:]

I just dropped in a fully built PA C4 with a TCI 3500 stall...I love it! I still have all of the manual stuff there in case I convert back. Super difference! The only draw back is you loose your highway gear...Oh well. Go fo it! It's kinda like all of these guys changing from EFI to carb. Once they do it they either love it or hate it.
