buying a 5.0

RE: buying a 5.0
my 88 ran good when i sold it with 200kthe problem was the body, and my 85 has 282k on it now and it is great i just did a compression test last week and its still perfect, as long as the body is in decent shape these motors run forever, i would take it to the shop first and get it up on a hoist to inspect the frame and get them to do a compression test so you know that your bottom end isnt garbage.
the price seems pretty low so just get it checked out first so you dont end up with a scrapper.

that is PRETTY low... these motors can go forever if treated right, and givin oil changes at the right times. even if the body isnt great.... if the engine is good then i say go for it, you can always do resto work later

RE: buying a 5.0
i have the shell i want to drop the engine in. my 4banger died the whole system went down rings pistons and all so i figured id go for the 5.0 instead of another 2.3 i have dual flow 40s on it now. is it expensive to get it all and put on? is it easy enough for me to do myself or should it be done professionally?

a motor and tranny swap isnt hard, i dont know much about the computers or electrical so i cant tell you about that and an 8.8 is pretty easy to bolt up, if you know your way around the electrical side it would be a good do-it-yourself project if you have too, once its running and driving you can take it to a suspension shop to get that all worked out
