Power Door Lock Actuator Replacement
Hi,
I'm going to replace the power door lock actuator in the driver door of my 92 GT. Do I need to drill the rivet holding the factory unit or can I mount the replacement in the door using the existing rivited on bracket? The replacement unit seperates from the bracket. Also, how do I actually unhook the existing unit from the locking mechinism? it looks like I need to also remove the latch to get access to the rod from the actuator.
I've got xxxL hands to get in a very tight place. It's hard to see or feel what's in there. I've checked the local parts stores but can't find anything with a step-by-step and/or a diagram. I already have the door panel off.
Thanks in advance!

RE: Power Door Lock Actuator Replacement
the old actuator pops right off by pushing it down. If your careful and there in good shape you can use the old brackets this will make the job 100% easier.once the actuator is free from the bracket you can work the unit out by hand you don't need any special tool our at least i didn't. have patience it may take a few trys but you'll figure out how to get it off.

Yah, the plastic bracket holding the actuator to the door frame is holding it by an open notch, so you should be able to work the whole actuator right out of that, then you simply unhook the actuator from the locking lever thing, and hook the new one in there, then pop it right back into the same bracket.

Thanks for the advice guys. Popping it out of the bracket was better than drilling out the old bracket. It did take some convincing to come out though!
This thing sure was literally a pain [>:] to get in & out of the car by sliding over the console & shifter when you're 6"4". The alternative was to move to Arizona where I could leave the top down & just step in over the door!
Thanks again!
