Default Too much Spring for a stock cam?

Hey guys, any such thing as a spring to strong for a stock cam?

i bought heads with double springs on them that was being using with a Ford F-cam

wondering if its compatable with the stock SD cam?

dont know, a "double spring" means nothing without checking seat pressure and spring rate, so NONE can answer this without knowing which spring is on the head

You can have too much pressure, but I doubt you do in this case. The stock springs on a 5.0 are not really even strong enough for a stock cam. Putting a heavier spring on with a stock cam is going to add some rpm and actually give you a little power. This is how we were able to rev our Factory Stock car to over 6000 rpm and make power, with a stock as per the rules of the class.

I have seen people swap out stock springs for a set of stiffer springs and pick up .2 in the quarter mile.
