im running a detroit tru-trac diff, 31 spline axles, and a trick flow cover.. its a good combo.... and my buddy had an 03 cobra running 10's on an 8.8, they can def take a beating

IMO 8.8 is strong enough, you wont break it if you build it right and it won't cost youtoo much......
gear set ~200
install set ~100
Girtal cover ~120
Carrier FRPP 31 spline ~250
axles 31 spline ~250
Weld up the tubes ~??? free for me
Less than $1000 for all new parts give or take a few $$, and if you can install them yourself, that is a plus. Build the 8.8
And if you want only a couple peoples input, there is a pm function.

I run mid 10's and still use the 8.8, strange 33 spline axles with c-clip eliminators, a spool and 4.30 gears, I overbuilt it so I can grow into it.
should be good for around 1200hp, although I'm sure the ring and pinion wouldnt last at that hp level.
theres no need for a 9 inch rear unless you plan on making over 1000rwhp.
