you need the checker and a sharpie marker and the rockers you will be using..wind it out to 6.250 = stock length and make sure cylinder you are checking like no 1 is on tdc and wiggle rocker side to side with light pressure held down on it with checker installed and look at mark left if it is towards back of stem..wind it out 1 turn = .050 more and recheck mark..you want mark to be in the center 1/3 of stem so it's travel stays inside that from rear of center 1/3 to fron of center 1/3...when done mark of travel should be in the center

Cant you just take outone old one measure it. Then order hardened ones that are the same length? Since they are correct right now?
