Default converter good?

my aod transmission burntup (fluids leaked and it was driven for 10mins ) anyway i was woundering ifmy 2400 stall converter is still good or not. i pulledthe tranny out today and the fluids smelt burnt. the tranny kept slipping and wouldn't stay in gear.

i think the aod has a lockup converter, if thatsthe caseyou should replace it. the clutch inside is most likely damaged. if its non lockup, take it to a good trans shop and they should have a machine that can flush it out.

yeah its a lockup. but did the converter go or both the converter and tranny. i got a buddy selling a 2200 stall for 200 i will probably buy then. thanks

hard to say, but when rebuilding transmissions they say to never use a lock up converter from a trans that has burnt up, they cant be flushed and will hold debris that will enter your new trans and most likely cause it to fail again

when such happens to a tranny it's never really a good idea to reuse the convertor without having it looked at ..most likely it has some damage internally too
