RE: gears and positraction???
3.73's will be fine and posi trac is a chevy term...ford uses traction loc and if you have a 5.0 8.8 like all 86 and up foxes have then you already have traction loc

RE: gears and positraction???
Two questions I would ask: auto or manual, intended usage? I have 2 cars with AOD, my 1991 has 3.0:1 gears and my 67 has 3.89 with detroit locker. I have wound out the 1967 out on the freeway like 125 - 130 mph it stopped accecelerating but thats probably just my engine gasping for breath, while my 1991 accecelerates like mad it burns out the tires in 1st 2nd 3rd gear (lentech built AOD) AND has top speed to where I will never have the guts to try to top it out on traffic-ridden freeways... I think that 3.27 would be better for my DD application, but as always the super popular gear sets are 3.55 and 3.73 isnt that the two choices the sell new 8.8 in still? so I guess that application matters most
haa ha yes how true GM trademark positraction!! no offense to anybody but I think that I do foam at the mouth a bit when like dudes are all like yo what like what rebuilt kits or parts stuff do I install to like beef up my mustang's posi, you just cant answer that question, unless there's a 12 bolt under the fox's crossdressing skirt!!! whaaaaugh its nuts but even wikipedia is saying that posi is now a general term, so grosly misused that its part of language now - like totally dude bo-bizzile my posi up in the grizzle home-dog

In the 1950s and 1960s many manufacturers began to apply brand names to their LSD units. While Packard pioneered the LSD under the brand name "Twin Traction" in 1956, the most famous of these was Chevrolet's "Positraction". Since then, Positraction (often shortened to "positrac" or merely "posi") has become a genericized trademark for LSDs.
