Default RING & PINION GUIDE

DUE TO SO MANY QUESTIONS HERE ABOUT GEARS, IS A LIL SUMARRY ABOUT GEAR CHOICES
3;27..Good gear for a S/C car as well gas mileage and crusing on a stock engine or mild bolt ons. also these can be had for lil of nothing used

3:55 great gear for S/C,NITROUS cars as well as good gas mileage and real good pickup, great for the street race and let's you get FULL use of 1st gear. Highway rpm will not be an issue. works great with all bolt on

3:73 good all around gear, good for an automatic or a 4.6 eq. car. not a really good choice for an S/C car. unless this car sees alot of track time. not much more performance than the 3:55 for street use and has limit use of 1st gear. works great with better breathing HIPO parts.cams, heads, intake to take full advantage of these gears

4;10...great ratio for the track and for a rather slow automatic...not a good daily driver gear for the fox body. with this gears on everyday driving will have you starting off in 2nd which can be tiresome after time. Wouldn't use on a stock 5.0.as it doesn't work well with the stock heads and cam. REALLY works great with larger cams/heads etc

hope this helps

4.10's on a 4.6 give about the same rpm's and shifting as a 3.73 on a 5.0

just thought I'd throw that in there
